Most of the time, this spot is reserved for upbeat messages, helpful information, or maybe to make folks aware of events going on around our area. This week is going to be a little different. This week I am going to have a little temper tantrum and speak my mind on what I think is one of the biggest issues with our society today: keyboard warriors.
A keyboard warrior is someone who is really brave and brazen on social media where they can rant, rave, and criticize while hiding behind a screen in the comfort of their home. These trolls roam social media just looking for something to criticize or throw their two cents in on. I am a staunch and devoted advocate of freedom of speech, and I recognize that even ignorant folks have the right to their opinion. However, there is a class of folks out there in cyber- land that take that freedom and stretch it like a rubber band on a watermelon.
This past week I saw some of these self-appointed kings and queens of public opinion criticize and mollify everything from a local school district, the physical aesthetics of the town I love, the highway construction, and a storm siren not sounding.
