Another senseless killing has come to our area in the past week. Two in fact. Actually… three. There was a time when I would say that these kinds of things don’t happen in our little corner of the world, but it seems more and more that the reality is that they do.
There was a time though when it wasn’t true. There was a time when a homicide was a pretty rare thing for the west end of Bowie County, or anywhere in Bowie County. That is sadly not the case any more.
There was a time when I would go for weeks and months without having to call my friends at the district attorney’s office or the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, but it seems as now they get to talk to me far more than they used to or even want to. You can be fairly certain that good folks like DA Jerry Rochelle or Kelley Crisp know when I call that something bad must have happened, other wise I wouldn’t be bothering them. They are busy people.
