IT’S OVER - RRAD SAVED!
After close to a year of research, data collection, digging into wallets, and moral support by community members, the Base Realignment and Closure Commission voted 7-1 on Thursday to remove Red River Army Depot from the closure list. “This proves that you can do anything if you’re tough enough, and smart enough, and willing to work hard enough,” said Horace Shipp, Defense Committee member. “Red River Defense Complex is a testimony that hard work pays off.”

The Oak Ridge Community, located north of DeKalb, is finally going to have City of DeKalb water supplied to their area. The community recently received a STEP grant from the state to provide water services after the local well water became discolored and badly flavored.

Red River Army Depot has been chosen as the winner of the Fiscal Year 2014 Army Award for Maintenance Excellence in the depot category. This is the third time RRAD has won the AAME award. “This award serves as just further recognition for the dedication and excellence that the Red River team members display on a daily basis,” said RRAD Commander Col Brandon Grubbs.
