You see it on your front page every week, but this week I’d like to dive into the mission statement of the Bowie County Citizens Tribune: Community News for the World YOU Live In.
To start, let’s talk about community. More specifically, the smallest community - family. Our management company manages more than 30 local newspapers across the state of Texas and was started by Jim Moser over 20 years ago. Those who follow Texas public media will likely recognize the name Moser from industry leader and community builder, Charles Moser. Charles just so happens to be Jim’s father and serves as a consultant for the company.
The Tribune is a family affair on a more local level as well. Of the three people that work for our fearless leader Kenny Mitchell, two of us have been giving him hell for much longer than our resumes reflect. Though we all no longer share a last name, our office/advertising guru Allyson Pebsworth and I are Kenny’s kids. (I’m always amused when I flip through the archives to do “This Week In History,” because there is a distinct correlation between the beginning of Dad’s tenure with the Tribune and an increase of coverage of our alma mater, Avery ISD.)
