A road crew worker was killed on the interstate west of New Boston Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The accident happened about 1:30 p.m. Thursday near the 190-mile-marker of Interstate 30.
Braden Tucker, 21, of Lufkin, Texas, had been working on the guardrails in the center median of the interstate when he attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of traffic on a Kubota skid steer, said Sgt. Ethan Sartor, Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman.
The skid steer was struck by an eastbound tractor-trailer and Tucker was ejected.
Tucker was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he died of injuries.
The driver of the truck was not cited, but the crash is still under investigation.
“There have been a lot of crashes in Bowie County. Wear your seatbelts, pay attention and slow down,” Sartor warned motorists.
