Robby Baker, a 2nd grader at Redwater Elementary won top honors in a READ-ATHON sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Last fall, Robby chose to participate in the READ-A-THON because he likes to read books and he likes to help people. Robby read 100 books and raised $500 for the MS Society. Instead of choosing a grand prize for himself, Robby chose to have a $200 donation made to his school in his name.

“You never gave up and you never quit. You hung in there and you came back to win. I’m proud of you.” Coach Jim Rice spoke to his players on the field after their hard-fought 35-29 win over the visiting Pleasant Grove Hawks Friday night. It was a true nail-biter, with Pleasant Grove ahead 29-22 with less than a minute left in the game.

The DeKalb Lady Bears wrapped up a great weekend of volleyball action with a championship trophy from the Paul Pewitt Tournament. In the championship game, the Lady Bears faced off against the host Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas. They came out on top as the victors with a three set win by a score of 22-25, 25-20, and 25-17.
