BCSO announces new scam

From the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office: Once again, we have someone contacting the citizens of Bowie County claiming to be employees of your local law enforcement (specifically the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office). The caller identifies themselves as a Deputy with our Office and then demands payment for outstanding fines, jury duty, or other law enforcement related functions. Recently, the caller claimed to be Deputy McMillian and was calling from phone number 930.402.6032. This is not the Sheriff’s Office phone number and is likely spoofed since it does not return to anyone. Please do not cooperate with these types of requests. Law enforcement will never try to collect payments for outstanding fines over the phone. Simply hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office directly. We will gladly investigate any concerns you have. ***THIS IS A SCAM-DO NOT PROVIDE GIFT CARDS, CRYPTO-CURRENCY, ACCOUNT NUMBERS, ETC..). We will have no way to recover your money as it is gone the moment the information was provided.
