‘Rayburn boaters urged to use caution with water levels low

Boaters planning to head to Sam Rayburn Reservoir over the next few months are urged to use caution as falling water levels have brought stumps, high spots, rock piles, old roadbeds and other navigational hazards dangerously close to the surface. It’s like a mine field out there.

One wrong move could lead to serious damage and costly repairs. Or worse.

That’s the word from fishing guide Brian Branum of Brookeland. Branum is on the water way more often than most. He says even the most experienced boaters should play it smart and run at reduced speeds. Just because it looks safe doesn’t mean it is, he said.
