Thirty Years Ago 1995

September 28, 1995

The New Boston Majorette Line participated in the UIL Twirling Contest at Linden-Kildare on September 16, 1995. The Line received a First Division rating. Andrea Bachers, a junior majorette, received a First Division rating for her solo performance. The Line will be eligible to compete in the State Twirling Contest in the Spring.

Twenty Years Ago 2005

October 2, 2005

Students at Leary went “above and beyond” any expectations in raising money for the American Red Cross for Katrina evacuees in this area. In only eight days, $2,005 was collected. Eighth graders Jennifer Briggs, Shawn Henry, Dylan Dickens, and Jennifer Satterfield collected donation buckets each day from every grade to tally the donations. The sixth grade class won an ice cream party for gathering the most donations, bringing in over $800.

Ten Years Ago - 2015

Rachel Fannin, who is a Junior at DeKalb High School, is following in her mother, Kelli Fannin’s footsteps as drum major. According to head band director Daitlyn Pineiro, Fannin will be the band’s first ever “Legacy” drum major.
