The New Boston Lions started district play with a bang as they knocked off the Redwater Dragons by a score of 43-20 last Friday.
It was a game of ups and downs for the Lions as they saw standout running back Ashton Rowden go down with a leg injury but also saw JV Giddens step in and rush for 177 yards and three scores as the Lions offense roared to a win. The Lions’ offensive effort also included a two-touchdown night for QB Ridge England who connected with Demetrion McChester on a 62-yard score and Kason Campbell on a 10-yard touchdown. Campbell had seven catches for 77 yards in the contest.
The Lions will look to go to 2-0 in district this week as they host the DeKalb Bears in one of the oldest rivalries in Texas high school football. The Bears have held onto the Traveling Trophy for a while now, and this is always a great game each year no matter how the two squads sit in the district standings.
