JESSIE MARIE STRICKLAND

Jessie was of the Baptist faith and lived her life with a loving and adventurous spirit. She attended Maud ISD through her elementary and middle school years before completing her high school education through homeschooling. She was known for her strong work ethic, her deep love for her family, and her compassion for animals— especially snakes. Her beloved dog, Axel, was her constant companion. She enjoyed music, with Kevin Gates being her favorite artist, and she found joy in simple moments with those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jimmy Williams; paternal grandmother, Jean Strickland; and younger brother, Ethan Hudson.

Survivors include her parents, Timothy Strickland and his wife, Ashley, of Maud, Texas, and Lisa Johnson and her husband, Mark, of DeKalb, Texas; her maternal grandmother, Robin Williams; paternal grandmother, Rhonda Derrick, and her husband, Brandon; and paternal grandfather, Timothy Strickland I. She is also survived by six sisters, Emiley Rae Strickland, Jaelynn Strickland, Mylah Strickland, Averie Strickland, Isabella Strickland, and Belle Johnson; two brothers, Arison Johnson and Timothy Strickland III; four aunts, Laurie Lamer and her husband, Matthew, Monica Campos and her husband, Russell, Jennifer Dickson and her husband, Aaron, and Amanda Holt and her husband, Gerald; two uncles, Billy Kirkpatrick and his wife, Angel, and John Jordan and his wife, Kara; along with numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.

Funeral services for Jessie and her brother Ethan will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in DeKalb, Texas, with Brother Augustine officiating. Interment will follow at Rayburn Cemetery.

Jessie will be remembered for her bright spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the kindness she shared with every life she touched. In her passing, Jessie continues to help others through the gift of organ donation, offering hope and healing to those in need.
