
Clay was born on April 23, 2013, in Idabel, Oklahoma, to Eric Clayton Dews Sr. and Yolanda Aguillon. He was a seventh-grade student at De Kalb Middle School, where he was known for his bright smile, adventurous spirit, and kind heart.
Clay attended Rock Creek Baptist Church in Maud, Texas, where his faith and joy for life inspired everyone who knew him. He loved the outdoors and could always be found playing baseball, riding his dirt bike or four-wheeler, or spending time hunting and shooting alongside his family. Clay had a fearless heart and a love for adventure that made every day an exciting one.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother and stepfather, Yolanda “Yoli” Aguillon and Jorge Geronimo of De Kalb, Texas; father and stepmother, Eric and Lauren Dews of De Kalb, Texas; brothers, Carson Dews, Christopher Dews, Colter Minter, Tallon Minter, Llayne Minter, and Luis Geronimo, all of De Kalb, Texas; Aunt, Jennifer Daniel of New Boston, Texas; cousins, Dalton Daniel and Beau Daniel of New Boston, Texas; Grandparents, Becky and Richard Zylks of De Kalb, Texas, Cristina and Severiano Aguillon, of Mexico, and Monica Poulin of Las Vegas, Nevada; Numerous maternal aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Clay’s time on Earth was far too short, but his light and laughter will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him. His strength, courage, and love for life will always be remembered as a shining example of hope and faith.
Honoring Clay as pallbearers will be Hernan Castillo, Dalton Daniel, Beau Daniel, Shane Daniel, Roman Castillo, Ruben Gonsales, Oliver Castro, and David Hano.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025, at De Kalb First Baptist Church with Brother Steven Minter, Reverend James Sparks, and Brother Jimmy Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
