Bears claim Traveling Trophy for 9th straight year

Last week was rivalry week with New Boston challenging the DeKalb Bears and the Maud Cardinals battling the James Bowie Pirates in some heated rivalry action.

When the dust settled, the Bears held onto the Traveling Trophy for the 9th straight year with a 26-10 win. The Bears amassed 340 yards of total offense while their defense held the Lions to just 137 yards from scrimmage, and DeKalb senior Dom Dunn stole the spotlight with over 100 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Kudos also to senior Mason Salinas who showed some true grit Friday with being released from the hospital that morning and not only suiting up but rushing for 49 yards in the Bears win.

The Bears will look to go 3-1 in district this Friday as they host the Redwater Dragons. The Dragons are coming off their bye week and still looking for their first win of the season.
