The Bowie County Soil & Water Conservation District sponsored the 2025 Hay Expo on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the school cafeteria in Simms, Texas.
Brian Triplett, our Bowie County AgriLife Ext Agent, judged each of the 30 entries in the Expo. Plaques were awarded to the top three placings: 1st place was Cody Grayson with a total visual & chemical score of 177.1 and 20.7% crude protein; 2nd place was Cody Grayson, with a total score of 166.6 and 19.2% crude protein; and 3rd place was Kay Shelton, with a total score of 166.1 and crude protein of 17.5%.
Bowie County SWCD is a non-profit agency and without the support from our local community we would not be able to offer events such as this and others we put on throughout the year. We want to thank all who came out and participated in the Expo and a special thank you to all producers who entered a hay sample in the contest.
