October 15, 1995

“The last food stamps ever issued by Texas will be mailed to New Boston families over the next 10 days. Those coupons will be replaced by the electronic Lone Star card, which is about to go on-line in Bowie County,” said State Comptroller John Sharp. The card uses modern technology to supplant the “inefficient and fraud ridden paper system of the past.”

Red River Member Service Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Red River Federal Credit Union, has developed a new service that eliminates the cost of driving all over town to find some place to cash a payroll check. They will bring their new Payroll Van to your place of business, and employees can cash their checks there.

Ten Years Ago - 2015

The State Bank of DeKalb held a bank-wide food drive during the month of September with all three of its branches competing to see who could bring in the most combined pounds of food, boxes of cereal and monetary gifts. The 3 locations collected a total of 677 boxes of cereal, 1,547 pounds of donated food items, and $3,383.60 in monetary gifts. The donations were distributed to local community service organizations, including Harvest Texarkana, Nick’s Mission, and DeKalb Hope
