Workforce certification is key

The state of Texas has been experiencing an economic miracle for more than twenty years. Recently, Northeast Texas has begun to experience a larger share of this miracle than previously.

When new businesses are exploring regions and areas to locate their business, location is usually the most important factor. The next most important item for the business is the labor availability. What can Bowie County do to help with the business’s evaluation for labor market skills and availability? Simply, support the ACT Work Ready Community!

ACT Work Ready Communities empower states, regions, and counties with data, processes, and tools that drive economic growth. Participants leverage the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate to measure and close the skills gap and build common frameworks that link, align, and match their workforce development efforts. The New Boston SIDC/ CDC and the New Boston Chamber of Commerce are partnering with the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, who is overseeing the ACT Work Ready Communities certification process for Bowie County. Miller County, Arkansas is certified.
