Area first responders greeted elementary students in the drop off line at DeKalb Elementary School Tuesday to celebrate National First Responders Day. The annual holiday was designated by Congress in 2017 to recognize and honor law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical technicians who protect their community during emergencies and put the lives of others ahead of their own on October 28th of each year.
