I’ll never forget the man in the trench coat who wandered into our youth church service one summer night many years ago. It was one of those evenings when the air hung heavy with humidity and the promise of prayer.
My friend and I had gathered with the teens for a night of worship, and like most small-town churches back then, we left the front door unlocked. It was a time when we believed anyone walking through that door was meant to be there.
