After over 25 years since his death, the DeKalb High School stadium will finally become “Gerald Pinkham Stadium.”
According to DeKalb ISD Superintendent, Chris Galloway, Phd, “Gerald Pinkham was a staple at DeKalb ISD for nearly forty years.” “He served the district as an educator, administrator, and he announced the DeKalb Bear football games,” said Galloway. “Renaming the football stadium in his honor is a reminder of the impact great educators have on the community.” Pinkham’s daughter, Jill Cel, told of renaming efforts soon after the loss of her father. “Just a few months after Daddy’s death in 1996, over a thousand people signed a petition to name the stadium in honor of Daddy, so we believed then it was going to happen.”
“When it didn’t, we moved on from it and as the years passed we all thought about it less and less,” said Cel.
