This Week in History

Thirty Years Ago - 1995

December 14, 1995

The first 70-mph speed limit signs will be going up on Northeast Texas highways on Thursday, December 14. The higher speed limits result from the lifting of the federally mandated speed limits of 55mph on most roadways. Texas highways will revert back to Texas law which sets the maximum speed limit of 70 mph during the day and 65 at night for passenger cars.
