County commissioners address solar farms

County commissioners address solar farms

Two solar energy producers discussed solar farm projects coming to Bowie County during the regular meeting of the Bowie County Commissioners Court last week.

RWE and TotalEnergies have contracts with landowners to bring solar farms to the county.

RWE secured a tax abatement contract with the county three months prior, but asked the Court to amend the contract to include an additional 95-acre tract of land to begin work on their Rabbit’s Foot Solar project, an 1,800-acre solar farm on County Road 4306 near DeKalb. The amended contract will provide the county with $300,000 per year for the company’s first 10 years of operations.
