BCSO investigating pair of holiday shootings

A press release issued by the Bowie County Sheriff ’s Office on December 26 by Chief Investigator Robby McCarver details the incidents surrounding a pair of shootings that are being investigated as connected. According to the press release, On Friday, December 26 at approximately 12:28a.m., the Bowie County Sheriff ’s Office responded to a call of Deadly Conduct on U.S. 259 South in DeKalb, TX. The victim reported that she was walking with her boyfriend when the suspect drove by, firing several shots from a handgun in their direction. She identified the suspect as her ex-boyfriend. The suspect had fled the scene prior to deputies arriving and there were no injuries. Later the same morning (approximately 3:30am), deputies responded to Farm to Market Road 2789 DeKalb, TX in reference to another Deadly Conduct. The victim reported that his home had been shot several times while he and his daughter slept inside. Several projectiles penetrated the home and struck items within the residence. It is believed that the suspect in this incident is the victim from the earlier call, an act of retaliation. The suspect had fled the scene prior to deputies arriving and again there were no injuries. There have been no arrests made at the time of this press release. If the investigation leads to an arrest, the suspect will be identified, and the arrest information will be forwarded.
