Forced flooding of Wright Patman Lake should not be expected, said U.S. Corps of Engineers officials.
”No time soon that I know of are we raising the lake, that I know of,” said Logan Lovelace, acting lake manager with the Corps of Engineers.
“We have some areas that are federally mitigated and we can’t flood those areas,” Lovelace added. “So originally, yes some other partners wanted to raise the makeup to help provide water to have a bigger force, but that would flood those mitigated areas and it would take a lot of our recreation … That was kind of the big concerns was for us not to lose our recreation, our fed-erally mitigated areas and to not have any effect into those kind of old growth forests.”
