Re-alignment brings few changes to local high school sports

Every two years the University Interscholastic League (UIL) realignment process can be an exciting time for fans, players and coaches or it can be a total nightmare travel-wise. On Monday, Feb. 2, the UIL released the new district realignments for football, basketball and volleyball for years 2026-2028.

Alignments for other UIL sports and academic contests will be released no later than April 1, 2026.

New Boston New Boston’s football district from the past two years did not change at all as the Lions will still play Hughes Springs, DeKalb, Hooks, Queen City, Redwater and Daingerfield in what is now 3A, Division 2, District 9 in Region 3.
