A Maud, Texas, woman could spend life in prison for sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy on multiple occasions Brandy Attaway, 47, was arrested on February 6. She is charged with two first-degree felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. If convicted, Attaway faces five to 99 years in a Texas prison and up to a $10,000 fine for each count. A conviction would also require a lifetime registration as a sex offender.
The children have been given pseudonyms to protect their identities, “Nichole Myers” and “Austin Myers.”
The mother of the “Nichole” and “Austin” contacted the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office on January 23 after she allegedly overheard Attaway make remarks about “inappropriately touching the children,” said a probable cause affidavit. During a brief meeting with the children, a deputy was told Attaway allegedly made the children pull down their pants and one of the children said she would touch them “where no one should ever be touched,” the affidavit said.
