There are always plenty of hungry customers finning around in Texas rivers and creeks. The white bass wins most popularity contests hands down this time of year.
Late winter and early spring is when the prolific sport fish (also called sand bass) stampede rivers and creeks to carry out their annual spawning ritual. The guys always show up first, then the girls. The spawning run is always the most pronounced on rivers and creeks that feed major reservoirs with bountiful populations of white bass.
A little current is a good thing. When the timing is right, the fish make huge moves in giant schools that can number well into the thousands. But that is hardly the only reason the white bass run is considered by many to be one of freshwater fishing’s greatest shows.
