The City of Texarkana, TX, Keep Texarkana Beautiful, Texas A&M Forest Service, Bowie and Miller County Master Gardeners are joining together for the 12th Annual Arbor Day tree giveaway on Saturday, March 7th. The event has a new location this year in the Home Depot parking lot near the Garden Center. The event begins at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude at 10:00 a.m., or earlier if all seedlings are distributed.
Volunteers will be onhand to help give away 1,000 bare root seedlings. The public is asked to stay in their vehicle while volunteers bring the seedlings to each person.
All the seedlings are native species to Texarkana’s climate and have been hand selected by a certified arborist. The species selected to be given out include Cherrybark Oak, Baldcypress, Nuttall Oak, Pecan, and Shumard Oak. Information packets on how to plant and care for trees will be available at the event.
