The New Boston City Council heard from Bowie County Voter Registrar Pat McCoy in their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 16. McCoy gave a lengthy presentation on the new Bowie County voting system that will change some polling locations, but allow Bowie County voters to cast their ballots in any polling location in the county. The new system is something the Registrar’s office has been working on for two years, and was able to complete with ARPA funds. Of the 254 counties in Texas, around 70 will be using this system, with others expected to follow as funds become available. There will now be 22 polling locations in the county, with west end locations at Hooks High School, Simms First Baptist Church, Old Salem Baptist Church, DeKalb High School, New Boston City Hall, Redwater First Baptist Church, and Maud First Baptist Church. More detailed information will be made available on the new voting system in the coming weeks’ editions of the Tribune.
