U.S. Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) announced the passage of the SAVE America Act, to mandate a valid voter ID for all federal elections. The legislation, championed by fellow Texan Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21), passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 218-213.
Thirty-six states require voters to show some form of ID to cast a ballot. However, that leaves many states with little to no safeguards to verify who is casting a ballot in federal elections. Despite finding noncitizens and similarly ineligible registrants on voter rolls, fourteen states still refuse to require photo ID for voting. The federal government must step in to safeguard the integrity of federal elections.
The SAVE America Act will protect our elections by: - Requiring individuals to present an eligible photo identification document before voting.
