Earning the 2025 Economic Excellence Award from the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) is proof the New Boston Special Industrial Development Corporation (SIDC) is moving in the right direction, officials said.
“When I got here in January of last year, the SIDC wasn’t even eligible to apply for this award,” said Lee Elliott, executive director of the New Boston SIDC and Community Development Corporation (CDC). “We’ve busted our hump this last year and a lot of it is doing best practices … It means that we are doing, from economic development circles, best practices and progressive measures, and that we’re doing things above and beyond what the average organization is doing.”
The SIDC is one of more than 700 economic development corporations across the state and was one of about 70 recipients of the Economic Excellence Award this year. DeKalb Economic Development Corporation was awarded the 2023 honor.
