Bowie County Sheriff Jeff Neal recounted last weekend’s events that left one dead and two injured, one of them a Bowie County Sheriff’s deputy, in what was, at times an emotional press conference Monday afternoon.
At around 1:30 Saturday afternoon, the Bowie County Sheriff’s office responded to a shooting on Private Road 82008 outside of Hooks, Texas. According to Sheriff Neal, a woman and her family were attempting to retrieve personal belongings from her home and believed her husband, identified as 32 year old Hector Alejandro Pintor Aguilar, was not at the residence. Aguilar was, however at the residence and opened fire on the woman and her parents. 55 year old Serafin Garcia- Alanis was on his knees on the porch when he was shot through the head and died as a result of his injuries. A 52 year old Hispanic female was also shot while kneeling, but threw her hands up and deflected the bullet. She is expected to recover. Children who were present at the scene called 911 to alert authorities of the incident.
The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle that was later wrecked in Sevier County Arkansas near Horatio. When a passerby stopped to check on him, he robbed them of their vehicle at gunpoint, and fled northbound on US Highway 71.
