A recent visit to Bowie County by researchers from Columbia University’s Teachers College in New York is bringing the advancements in dual credit classes offered to area high school students to the forefront of national research.
Dual credit classes have been offered to high school students for more than half a century, and with advancements in education and workforce training, high school students have more options than students in the past. And nowhere is this more present than in Texas, said Dr. Davis Jenkins, a senior research scholar at the Community College Research Center (CCRC) at Teachers College.
“Dual credit, as you know, is big in Texas. One in four community college students in Texas is a dual credit student,” Jenkins said.
