Texas big bass specialist Lawrence Lee of Tolar made history twice in March when he reeled in three Toyota Legacy Lunkers during the same collection season, which runs Jan. 1 - March 31. Two of the fish, a 13.10 pounder and a 13.57 pounder — were caught the same day, March 23. Lee also caught a 13.12 pounder on March 8. All were caught at Lake J.B. Thomas near Snyder in West Texas.
It’s the first time in the 40year history of the program that an angler has caught two Legacy class fish the same day or donated three entries during the same collection season. Lee also caught a 13.79 pound Legacy Lunker in Jan. 2024 that ranks as the current lake record for J.B. Thomas. He was the leading contributor of ShareLunkers over eight pounds (69) that same year. Lee’s single year total is more than twice that of the program’s No. 2 contributor, Deric Miller of Southlake. Miller entered 35 fish between 2018-23 from lakes Fairfield, Purtis Creek and Mill Creek.
