New Boston students and community members joined forces to celebrate Earth Day and support this year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” The New Boston Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the New Boston Special Industrial Development Corporation/Community Development Corporation hosted their second annual Community Clean Up event. Seventh graders from New Boston Middle School picked up trash at Tapp Park and the youth sports complex while National Honor Society students from New Boston High School and the Dogwood Garden Club planted flowers at Trail Head Park. Employees from Ace Hardware scoured downtown for random trash along downtown sidewalks and roadways while His Way Lawncare cut overgrown ditches and along walking paths.”It was so nice to see multiple organizations, businesses, students and individuals show up this year. We got a lot accomplished and I enjoy seeing the community take pride in our town,” said Kayla Simmons, chamber president.
