There are certain names in community journalism that become synonymous with the towns they serve. In Bowie County, Kenny Mitchell is one of those names.

I was very sorry to hear that Kenny has decided to ride off into the sunset after more than 16 years at the helm of this publication. That kind of tenure is not only rare, it’s meaningful. It represents years of early mornings, late nights, tough decisions and a steady hand guiding a newspaper through an industry that has seen more than its fair share of change.
