No Big Expense Required: How Small Changes Cut Energy Bills

Spring is a time when many review their home energy needs and look for ways to manage costs as warmer months approach. Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) offers tools, programs, and rebates designed to help customers reduce energy use and stay comfortable, no matter the season. “Customers who take part in SWEPCO’s energy‑saving programs can save up to 10 percent on their average heating and cooling costs each year,” said Debra Miller, SWEPCO’s energy efficiency and consumer programs manager. “Small changes made now can have a big impact when summer heat arrives.”

Reducing energy use doesn’t require major renovations or expensive upgrades. Simple, often low‑cost steps can help prevent air loss, stop leaks, and lower future cooling bills.

Easy ways to lower energy costs Spring clean with purpose: Clean behind refrigerators, dust light bulbs, and wipe sliding door tracks to help keep cool air inside.
