The New Boston City Council has named a lone finalist in their search for City Administrator. Wayne Dial was the pick of three candidates that were called in for final interviews conducted by the council. The city will now negotiate a contract with Mr. Dial before officially hiring him for the position. The vote by the council to hire Mr. Dial was unanimous.
Two citizens addressed the council in open forum. Tommy Crawford of Merrill Street told the council that a tree on city property recently fell on power lines, and out of safety concerns he paid for the removal and clean-up. He asked the council to consider reimbursing him for the costs incurred. Allen Russell of Maple Street voiced concerns about speeders in his neighborhood. He explained that the street has no posted speed limit, and that there is a bus stop along the road.
The council voted unanimously to give the mayor authorization to issue a burn ban. County burn bans typically cover unincorporated parts of the county, requiring cities to issue their own bans. This ordinance will allow the mayor to issue a burn ban without requiring a meeting by the council.
