Retired Gunnery Sergeant Richard “Gunny” Hall has led a life of service to the Marine Corps and The Armed Forces since joining the service nearly 70 years ago.
“I joined the Marine Corps two weeks after my seventeenth birthday on May 25, 1954,” said Hall.
“I thought I wanted to go to war, at that time, and the Korean war thing was winding down,” he said. “But instead of going to war, they gave me a bugle.”
