On Friday, April 24, 2020, at approximately 3 p.m., the Bowie County Fire Marshal’s Office Fire Marshal Scottie Taylor, with assistance from Investigator David Gipson and the New Boston Police Department, arrested DeWayne and Brandi Gray, from DeKalb, on charges of Felony Insurance fraud.
The arrest arose following a lengthy investigation into a residential fire that the couple had at their residence located at 178 Elliott Lane in DeKalb on August 31, 2018.
The DeKalb Fire Department and New Boston Fire Department responded to the fire and extinguished the residence that was fully involved in fire upon their arrival.
