As of the latest TDCJ numbers on Monday, the TDCJ reports that 36 offenders have now tested positive for COVID-19 and one more test was still pending. In all, 913 inmates were on medical restriction status and another 38 have been placed on medical isolation.
Officials at the Bowie County Joint Operations Center told the Tribune on Friday that the cases at the Telford Unit are not included in the totals for Bowie County.
The TDCJ also said last week that any facility that has a positive offender or employee/staff COVID-19 test will be placed on lockdown. That includes 15 facilities as of Friday.
