As of Friday, the TDCJ reports that 15 offenders have now tested positive for COVID-19 and 16 more tests were still pending. In all, 664 inmates were on medical restriction status and another 31 have been placed on medical isolation.
Officials at the Bowie County Joint Operations Center told the Tribune on Friday that the cases at the Telford Unit are not included in the totals for Bowie County.
The TDCJ also said last week that any facility that has a positive offender or employee/staff COVID-19 test will be placed on lockdown. That includes 15 facilities as of Friday.
