Davis looks to reward employees but maintain responsibility to taxpayers with budget requests

Josh Davis said the security of his staff is at the heart of his budget request.

Davis, the Bowie County Tax Assessor Collector, addressed the Bowie County Commissioners Court during the June 21 budget hearings regarding his department’s operating budget.

“I’ve gotten with our district attorney at 601 Main (Texarkana, Texas) and we were concerned a little bit about our security in that building. We did request another bid for our camera systems. I know that we had had a previous one … and it was a little bit expensive. Trying to follow our fiduciary responsibility of being good stewards of the taxpayers’ money, we wanted to see if there were any other options available and we did get a little lower bid,” Davis told the court.
