New Boston man arrested for theft

According to a press release issued by the BCSO:

On July 12, 2019 around 2:30 AM, CDM Holdings’ employee Martin McGee reported a theft in progress at their business located on Highway 98 in New Boston. Mr. McGee observed a black Chevrolet truck with no license plate enter the business’ property. The white male driver got out of this truck and started stealing tools and rifle out of three different CDM Holdings’ vehicles. Deputies from the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office responded and positioned themselves to contain the suspect. Mr. McGee advised the deputies it appeared as if the suspect was about to leave. The deputies converged on the suspect who accelerated his truck through a fence into an adjacent pasture to avoid capture. Officer Cole Ogden from the Hooks Police Department who was responding to assist deputies located the suspect on South Elm Street in New Boston. Officer Ogden attempted to stop the suspect who again accelerated his vehicle initiating a pursuit. The suspect eventually lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a ditch on Highway 8. The suspect did his best to continue his flight on foot, but was quickly caught and arrested by Officer Ogden. The suspect was identified as Jamie Dale Fite, 44 years of age of New Boston, Texas. Approximately $10,000 worth of stolen property belonging to CDM Holdings was recovered from the vehicle Fite was driving, along with methamphetamine. Deputy Michelle Carrier responded to the location where Fite was apprehended and took over the investigation. Fite told her that he is currently working for Robbins Toyota. He has been using vehicles from Robbins’ lot without their permission to steal property from CDM Holdings, who is his former employer, for some time. In addition to the property recovered from the vehicle Fite was driving, he admitted to stealing five trailers. Four the trailers belonged to CDM Holdings and the other one he spotted at a location on his way to CDM Holdings. Fite led deputies to the location of these stolen trailers. They were all recovered and returned to their rightful owners. Fite was taken to the Bi-State Jail where he was booked in for Theft Over $2500 and Under $30,000, Theft of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance Over One Gram and Under Four Grams. Captain Robby McCarver later arrested Fite for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle for the truck he had stolen from Robbins Toyota. Bond had not been set for Fite on any of his charges at the time of this release.Press
