The New Boston City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. All council members were present with the exception of Richard Ellis, as was Mayor Johnny Branson, City Attorney Mike Brock, and Chief of Police Garry McCrary.
In open forum, City Engineer David Williams gave presentations over two proposed city grant projects, and Something Different Hair Salon owner Jimmie Nell Gilmore expressed her concern with sidewalk conditions on N. Front Street and asked city officials to consider repair/restoration of these walkways. Both Mayor Branson and Councilman David Turner responded to Gilmore, explaining that clarification is needed on ownership of the property on which the sidewalks sit before repairs can be made.
