The Texas Rangers are in New Boston this morning investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at a residence in the 200 block of North Center Street. The officer involved shooting ended in the death of a female at the residence, Elizabeth Harris, 58, who was a resident at the location.
According to New Boston Police, officers arrived at the scene shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday night after receiving a call about a suicidal person at the residence.
Upon their arrival, Harris fired multiple shots at officers and fire was returned. Multiple law enforcement agencies from the area then responded to the scene, including a negotiator from the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office that tried to talk Harris into voluntarily surrendering.
