Spotlight Game of the Week
Round three of the State Softball Playoffs ended with a bang for the Hooks Lady Hornets. The girls split the first two games with the Lady Tigers from Mount Vernon, dropping game one with a score of 6-10 and tying the series with a game two win with a score of 4-3. Game three came on Monday, following Mother’s Day weekend. Facing elimination, each team entered the diamond ready to play.
Mount Vernon was the first to strike, scoring a single run in the top of the first inning. The Lady Tigers held onto this lead until the bottom of the third inning when Kinsley Birdwell hit a ground ball that allowed Zoe Greenwood to score the Lady Hornets first run of the night.
