The Hooks Lady Hornets advanced to the Area round of the state playoffs with their 14-4 drubbing of the Quitman Lady Bulldogs on Saturday.
The two teams battled to a 3-3 tie after two innings, but that is when the Hooks bats took over and poured on fuel as they lit up the Quitman pitcher for runs in every frame except the 5th. The Lady Hornets combined for 12 hits in the contest including multi-hit performances from Smith, Lewis and Greenwood. Marleigh Smith led the way going 3-for-5 with three RBIs, followed by Madison Lewis who was also 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI and Zoey Greenwood was 3-for-3 with four runs scored.
