Lady Dragons to face Mt. Vernon in first round

The Redwater Lady Dragons celebrated Senior Night with a 9-3 win over the Lady Bears of DeKalb, sending themselves into the postseason on a high note.

Before the game, a ceremony was held to honor the four seniors on the team, Ramzi Smith, Kelsey Harris,Madison Brown, and Karli Boatright.

In the game, Smith, Boatright and Bailey O’Bannon each had a pair of hits.

On the hill, Bethanee Calicott notched another win with six strikeouts.

Taylor Goodwin had a two-run dinger for the Lady Bears.

The Lady Dragons end their season as the third place team in their district behind Hughes Springs and Hooks and ahead of the Lady Lions of New Boston.

They will face Mt. Vernon in the first round of the UIL state playoffs. It will be a best-of series, with the location still to be determined.
