The Board of Trustees of New Boston ISD held their regular meeting on September 18, 2017 in the Board Room of the New Boston ISD Administrative Building.  All board members were present, and after roll call, recessed to executive session.
Upon returning from executive session, Trustee Lynn Davis led the Pledge of Allegiance and the invocation.  No one was signed up to speak in open forum and all items on the consent agenda were approved unanimously.  Also approved unanimously were updates on the district T-PESS (Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System) policy, as well as the naming of County Agents to serve as adjunct faculty for the district’s 4-H program, as is standard.  The Board was informed of the hiring of district LVN Erin Woods, who will serve as an at-will employee for the Crestview and middle school campuses.
In the superintendent’s report, Dr. Neshbya reported that enrollment continues to rise and is currently at 1,339.  Attendence is at an exceptional level, with an average of 96.7% for all campuses.  Dr. Neshbya also reported that maintenance has implemented a new system for monitoring faulty pump operations at Oakview.  Director of State and Federal Programs and District Testing Coordinator Kelly Cordray reported two resignations, Georgianna Laney, High School Secretary, and Donna Driggers, Crestview.  Director of Business Operations Jackie Barnwell reported that investment rates were up, and there were no further questions or discussion on business operations.
Each meeting ends with an opportunity for trustees to make positive comments, and Lynn Davis commented on recent improvements to the sound system in the high school gym.
Paula Turner said that she had received good comments and overall positive attitudes in regards to all campuses this year, and Jason Reid reported a turnout of five boats for NBISD fishing team’s first tournament.
