In a statement issued last night, New Boston ISD Superintendent Dr. Rose Mary Neshyba stated, “New Boston ISD’s Craig Fant has announced he is stepping down as the Athletic Director. He has been offered a position in the Atlanta ISD and will be stepping down later in the semester. The Lion Coaching Staff is working together to ensure our student athletes have a successful and productive spring semester as they prepare for softball, baseball, track, and continued success with the basketball programs. The New Boston Independent School District will conduct a comprehensive search for the position of Athletic Director.”

Fant told the Tribune this morning, “I appreciate the opportunity to work for New. Dr. Neshyba, the school board and the administration have all been really good to us. New Boston has a good program and some great kids and I know they will do great things in the future. I wish them all the best.”

Fant became the New Boston Athletic Director last summer. The Lions were 1-9 last season with the lone win coming over Gladewater Sabine late in the season.
